Surely Juanita never thought that an initiative, born of adversity, would turn into a prosperous family business of 3 generations, with a 4th in sight!

That for many years we can enjoy the barbecue and the good meals that the Mascort family offers us.

BEGINNINGS

Juanita

It all started when Juanita became a widow.

On Sunday afternoons, the residents of the area came to Can Mascort to play cards and keep her company. Juanita prepared snacks and served them mixes and drinks.

Over time, those meals and the customers became formalized until in 1964 the activity became fully a restaurant.

At the beginning, Juanita managed the restaurant all by herself, with occasional help from her children, Àngel and Roser.

TANDEM AND RELAY

THE DAUGHER IN LAW

Step by step, the business took off and in 1971, Maria, married to Ángel, went on to form a tandem with Juanita to take it forward.

At that time, the menu was reduced to salads, charcuterie and grilled lamb, rabbit and sausages; and, for dessert, dried fruits, peach and pineapple in syrup, custard and pajamas.

Many years have passed since those beginnings. The family kept expanding. Juanita‘s grandchildren, Jordi and M. Àngels, used to run between the tables in the small restaurant. Now they are the ones hoping to take over from Àngel and Maria.

Over time, together they have expanded the menu, also offering seasonal dishes, but without losing the essence of what Juanita started.

A traditional cuisine cooked with great care, a pampered ember to cook the meat just right and a cozy environment where you feel at home.

ON THE GRILL…

ÀNGEL

Stir the embers; he builds the fire in time and keeps it patiently so that it is always ready to cook the meat. He is the master! Jordi has learned from him, who is starting to take over from him.

ON THE STOVE…

MARIA

Maria has a broken hand making dishes and saucers of those at home. Some stews that will make even the tiniest of people lick their fingers. Beef cheeks, duck, cannelloni… and salads of all kinds!

IN THE KITCHEN…

JORDI

He is the king of the deserts! He prepares sweeter and more sour ones, and often makes delicious combinations of all of them! Now, in addition, he brings new dishes to the menu and takes over from Ángel, al grill.

IN THE DINNING ROOM…

M. ANGELS

Maria Àngels is always running up and down. She is as soon in the kitchen as she is taking notes and serving. And if Maria has prepared anything new, she will let you know just by welcoming you to the table.

THE FARM

Going up towards the Sanctuary of Els Angels, from La Creueta, in a very tight bend on the left hand side, legendary for rally fans, we find the farmhouse of Can Mascort circled there.

As in most manor houses, in the past its inhabitants were dedicated to working the land and the forest and raising cattle.

By chance of life, about 60 years ago the activity was changed, becoming a restaurant, until today.

Apart from its spacious and welcoming dining rooms, the hearth lights up on winter days and its good cuisine, at Can Mascort, you can also enjoy magnificent views of the plain of Girona, lunches in the sun in winter and fresh dining in hot weather.
